Direct air travel between Pakistan and Iran has officially started, marking a new chapter in bilateral cooperation and regional connectivity, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
An announcement in this regard was made by Iranian envoy to Pakistan, Dr Reza Amiri Moqadam, who confirmed that the first phase of operations will be carried out by Iran Air Tour, one of Iran’s prominent airlines.
According to the ambassador, the launch of direct flights is the result of a comprehensive aviation agreement recently finalized between the two countries. He credited the progress to the growing diplomatic engagement, particularly following the Iranian President’s visit to Pakistan, which helped pave the way for stronger collaboration.
Iranian envoy Dr. Moqadam expressed gratitude to the government of Pakistan for its active role in facilitating the agreement and ensuring smooth execution.
The envoy emphasized that the initiative will not only ease travel between the two nations but also serve as a major boost for tourism, trade, and cultural exchange. Direct flights are expected to encourage more Iranian tourists to visit Pakistan and experience its natural landscapes, historical sites, and cultural heritage.
The Iranian ambassador congratulated the citizens, tourism stakeholders, and business sectors of both countries, expressing hope that the initiative would mark the beginning of an era of closer cooperation.
He said the move reflects the shared commitment of Pakistan and Iran to expand ties beyond politics, focusing on mutual growth, friendship, and regional stability.
