SriLankan Airlines resumed its flights between Colombo and Kathmandu on the morning of September 11, following the reopening of Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport by the country’s Civil Aviation Authority.
According to SriLankan Airlines’ Head of Corporate Communications, Deepal Perera, flight UL-181 departed Katunayake Airport at 8:15 a.m. on September 11 and was scheduled to land in Kathmandu at 11:41 a.m.
The return flight is expected to arrive back in Colombo at 4:40 p.m. the same day.
SriLankan Airlines had temporarily suspended services to Nepal on September 10 due to the airport’s closure amid the ongoing conflict in the country.
During the suspension, the airline arranged accommodation and hotel facilities for 35 affected passengers who had arrived at Katunayake Airport intending to travel to Kathmandu.
Currently, SriLankan Airlines is the only carrier operating direct flights between Colombo and Kathmandu.
The airline will operate services to Nepal four times a week—on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
