The United Kingdom raised a new travel warning for Pakistan. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) told British citizens to stay alert after an explosion in Islamabad. Officials said the security situation looks tense and unpredictable.
The British High Commission in Islamabad cut staff movement due to safety concerns. The FCDO also reminded travelers that insurance may not cover them if they ignore official advice. The department urged citizens to plan trips carefully and avoid unnecessary travel.
The advisory listed several restricted areas. It banned travel within five miles of the Pakistan-India border. The only exception is the Grand Trunk Road near Wagah, but that crossing stays closed. It also advised people to stay at least ten miles away from the Line of Control in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa faced strict restrictions. The warning covered districts like Peshawar, Swat, Bajaur, Bannu, Karak, and both North and South Waziristan. It also marked the Karakoram Highway between Mansehra and Chilas and the N45 from Mardan to Chitral as unsafe routes.
The FCDO told travelers to avoid the whole province of Balochistan. It also discouraged non-essential travel in Sindh north of and including Nawabshah. Moreover, it advised people to stay at least ten miles away from the Pakistan-Afghanistan border due to security risks.
Officials shared safety instructions for British nationals. They asked citizens to stay indoors when possible and store food, water, and medicine. They urged people to follow local curfews, monitor news updates, and stay ready for sudden travel changes. The FCDO said flights or transport could stop anytime during an emergency.
