Sri Lankan low-cost carrier FitsAir is set to launch direct flights between Colombo and Lahore from January 20, further strengthening air links between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The airline will operate two weekly services using its Airbus A320 fleet, with flights scheduled every Tuesday and Saturday.
According to the carrier, the new connection will offer Pakistani travellers a budget-friendly option to reach Colombo and, from there, onward destinations in the region, while also giving Sri Lankan visitors easier access to northern Pakistan.
The airline began life in 1997 as ExpoAir, concentrating on cargo services on both domestic and international routes. For more than two decades, it has built its reputation as a reliable logistics carrier, often keeping supply chains running during politically and economically unstable periods in Sri Lanka.
In 2022, the company rebranded and pivoted into the passenger segment, becoming Sri Lanka’s first private airline to operate international commercial flights. Since then, FitsAir has gradually expanded its network across South Asia and the Middle East.
In other news, after resuming UK operations in late 2025, PIA has restarted direct flights from Islamabad to Manchester and is now preparing to launch four weekly non-stop flights from Islamabad to London from March 29.
The London service is scheduled every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday and is aimed at meeting strong demand from the Pakistani diaspora and business community in the UK.
