PIA Signs Cargo Deal with International Airline to Boost Exports

Pakistan International Airlines has signed a cargo partnership deal with Indonesia’s flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia, in a move aimed at improving shipping options for Pakistani exporters and freight forwarders.

In its announcement, PIA said the two airlines have entered into a Cargo Special Prorate Agreement (SPA) designed to offer more seamless cargo connections and better access to international markets.

The arrangement is scheduled to take effect in January 2026 and will remain in place until July 2027. Under the agreement, Pakistani export consignments will be carried to Jakarta and onward destinations through routing that includes Jeddah and Kuala Lumpur.

PIA said the SPA will also strengthen links to key global cargo points such as Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Bangkok, helping Pakistani goods reach wider markets more efficiently, including destinations in China, South Korea, and Australia.

The airline added that the agreement includes competitive freight pricing and priority handling facilities for exporters and cargo agents.

A PIA spokesperson said the purpose of the deal is to support growth in Pakistan’s exports while expanding and streamlining the country’s air cargo operations.
