The air connection between Bangladesh and Pakistan is active once again as a significant gap in regional travel officially ends. Bangladesh’s national carrier, Biman Airlines, marks a high-profile return with its inaugural direct flight from Dhaka to Karachi. This much-anticipated service restores direct air travel to the region, providing a major boost to bilateral relations and offering a long-awaited convenience for travelers on both sides of the border.

A Grand Welcome at Jinnah International Airport

The inaugural Biman Airlines flight, carrying 149 passengers, touched down at Jinnah International Airport from Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport to great fanfare. The Pakistan Airports Authority greeted the aircraft with a traditional water salute, signaling a celebratory start to the revived route. Passengers onboard express immense satisfaction, highlighting the restoration of direct air communication as a vital development that significantly reduces travel time and complexity between the two nations.

A formal ceremony at the Karachi airport brings together a diverse group of dignitaries, including senior officials from the Civil Aviation Authority, Pakistan Airports Authority, and the Airport Security Force, alongside the Bangladeshi high commissioner. The Dhaka–Karachi air service currently operates on a trial basis, with the initial phase scheduled to run through late March.
