 SriLankan Airlines has expanded its regional network by signing a new interline agreement with Island Aviation Services, operating as Maldivian (Q2), enabling passengers to travel seamlessly to 17 domestic destinations across the Maldives under a single ticket.

The agreement allows passengers to book combined itineraries on SriLankan Airlines and Maldivian using a single electronic ticket for both inbound and outbound travel via Velana International Airport in Malé and Gan International Airport on Gan Island.

The partnership links SriLankan Airlines’ international network with Maldivian’s domestic services, offering easier access to remote and popular islands in the Maldives. The airline said the move is expected to benefit both leisure and business travellers by providing smoother transfers throughout the archipelago.

SriLankan Airlines currently operates three daily flights to Velana International Airport in Malé and two weekly flights to Gan International Airport, providing strong connectivity between Sri Lanka and the Maldives while offering onward connections through its international network.

The airline said the interline agreement would also create new opportunities for travel agents, tour operators, corporate travel planners and individual travellers by simplifying bookings and supporting passenger growth on the Malé and Gan routes.

“Our collaboration with Maldivian represents an important milestone in expanding our regional footprint and enhancing travel convenience for our customers. By integrating our global network with Maldivian’s domestic connectivity, we are unlocking greater access across the Maldives while creating new opportunities for growth across key commercial segments,” Head of Commercial Dimuthu Tennakoon said.

Maldives Manager Nayomi Tennakoon said the partnership provides passengers with seamless access from SriLankan Airlines’ global network through Malé and Gan to numerous domestic destinations across the Maldives on a single itinerary.

SriLankan Airlines said the initiative reflects its continued commitment to improving connectivity, convenience and travel options across the region.

The national carrier serves 130 destinations in 63 countries, including codeshare services, and operates direct flights to 33 destinations with an all-Airbus fleet comprising A330-200/300 and A320/321 aircraft.
