Dhaka: The United States has eased its travel advisory for Bangladesh, moving the country from Level Three, “Reconsider Travel,” to Level Two, “Exercise Increased Caution,” citing improved security conditions.
The Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said the revised advisory reflects increased US confidence in the country’s overall stability and travel environment.
According to MoFA, the decision came following a meeting in the capital between Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor. The ministry said Gor informed the foreign minister about the advisory update shortly after the discussions.
In a message, Gor said the US State Department had considered the current conditions in Bangladesh and determined that the country was safer for travelers. However, he noted that some areas remain subject to additional restrictions.
MoFA described the advisory change as a positive development in Bangladesh-US relations, saying it recognizes ongoing efforts to strengthen law and order and create a more secure environment for international visitors.
The ministry added that the updated travel guidance is expected to support greater connectivity in areas including tourism, trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
